H1's First Step

Well, she did...and then she fell flat on her face. It was a graceful fall but a fall none-the-less. H1 was standing at the corner of the coffee table, turned and saw her sister making her way to the other side of the room, let go and took a step. She kept her balance for a good bit of time but as soon as she realized what was happening she panicked and fell. She didn't cry or anything after her tumble but started off after her sister. She is usually a drama queen when she does anything outside of the "normal." There can be a toy in her path and she'll turn, look directly at you and cry. Such a faker! I personally can't believe that they are old enough to be standing, cruising and now trying to walk. Perhaps the next time they try I'll have the camera out!

Streakers

Those girls just love to be naked. Last night after their bath they proceeded to dash off, butt naked, in completely opposite directions. It was SO funny. They had their rubber duckies in their mouths and they were gone in a flash. I couldn't help but laugh! Then sometime last night H2 proceeded to take her pajama pants off and throw them across the room. I swear! I just hope I get them potty trained before she decided to go diaper free in the middle of the night.

They had been having some bath time fears which I still have no idea why. I had gotten them a bubble blowing bath toy that they don't like one bit (it scares them) so I thought maybe they were having some anxiety about it but even after it was gone they were still acting really frightened. I now think it may be because I had been bathing them separately for my own sanity and they wanted to be together. Things went much smoother last night then they had all week.

H2's First Step

Sorry I've been slacking on the updates! We definitely stay busy around here.

After a fun and relaxing day with the kids (can you feel my sarcasm) me, the girls and PJ packed up to meet Aunt Tes at their house. We got there, piled out and began to play. The girls are really good at helping other parents see what they're going to have to baby proof. They proceeded to find every low lying breakable object in sight and try and fling it onto the hardwood floor. Thank goodness we have good reflexes!

During all the exploring H2 was standing up at one of the end tables in between the sofa I was sitting on and love seat Tes was sitting on. She proceeded to let go of the table and take one huge step forward. Holy Cow! It was so crazy. I started to tear up and we began cheering and clapping for her. She, of course, could have cared less. She just plopped down and crawled off to see what her sister was doing.

H1 is doing really well with standing alone. She went from being able to do it for about six seconds to now being able to for nearly a half a minute. She hasn't get gotten the courage to take a step but I know it'll be very soon.

They are getting SO big!

We like to sit back and relax when we eat out lunch.
(H2 left - H1 right)

H1 found herself a DVD and proceeded to walk around the room with it in her house. Every time I try and take her picture now she does this silly *cheese* face.

H2 trying to grab the camera from me.

Two very happy girls playing in their yard. So silly!!!

H1's First Walk Behind The Walker

Today H1proceeded to crawl up to their hippo walker that Aunt Sarah and Uncle Rodney got them for Christmas last year, pop up and start walking across the living room! It was so crazy to see those tiny little chubby legs scooting across the room. And she was fast too! There is no stopping her. I know they'll be trying to walk alone any time now.

*Please excuse all the crazy faces that H1 makes...it's her new "thing."*

Standing at the walker getting ready to go.
H2 got out of her way quick when she started taking off.

She had walked all the way across the room and back at this point. I had just turned the hippo around to see if she wanted to go again but she said "Nah, I'm gonna go see what else I can get into!"

I was clapping for her and was very excited. She just thought I was crazy!

10 1/2 Month's

We had our recheck at the doctor today for H1's iron levels and she is good to go! *yeah* We gave them each a quick weigh in too. H1 is now 17lb 5oz and H2 is 17lb 1oz. H2 is quickly catching up. She won't be my itty bitty teeny tiny anymore.

Playing At Nana & Papa's

The other day we went over to Nana and Papa's house to visit. We had a great time. They got some new cribs for us to nap in and we got to try them out. Then we got to play with the toys and went on a little walk down to the mailbox. They just love going to over there to play!

Going To The Park

Yesterday we went to the park for about 30 minutes with my Mom. It was generally uneventful but we had fun. They didn't have infant swings which wasn't cool so we had to put them in our laps to swing. They did have a tire swing but it's hard to hold them both and move at the same time!

On the tire swing.

This pretty much sums up how they both feel about the swing.
H1 is terrified and H2 loves it!

They each got a little one-on-one Grandma time.

Me and H2.

Fun With Nana & Papa

We went over to Nana and Papa's house for Daddy's birthday. They have a swing that comes off of a tree branch with a baby seat on it. Since H2 is in love with swinging now I put her in and it her off. She loved it (as we knew she would)! H1 went and sat with her Nana on the porch swing. That was more her speed and she was giggling and smiling away.

After we were done swinging we went inside to play. The girls got into their walkers and went scooting backwards across the hardwood. They don't realize yet that they can move their feet to go forwards too!

Talking to Papa when he got home from work.

Just sitting and looking around. H2 has a Little People horse she loves to gnaw on.

Hair Bows

The girls have just enough hair to put a teeny-tiny hair bow in. It lasted about five minutes so I had to make sure I documented the momentous occasion! They did not mind them at all. They never have really cared about things on their heads like a lot of babies do which is good.

And don't mind Hailey's photo. They both think they are puppies half the time. They'll put their toys in their mouth and crawl around the room with them. They also like to do this with their bottles! Such silly girls.

H2 's First Word

So, not to be so quickly outdone by her sister H2 decided that she too needed to say her first word. And of course, it was Dada! That little stinker.

H1's First Word

As R walked through the door tonight I was in the kitchen cooking his birthday dinner. The girls were in the living room playing in their play yard. He came in, gave me a kiss, and we began talking. The girls heard his voice and from the living room H1 began yelling at the top of her lungs "Dada! Dada! Dada!!!" We both stopped dead in our tracks and I began to tear up. Our beautiful little H1 said her first word. What an amazing birthday present she gave to her Daddy.

Sippy Cups & Bath Time

I am now the proud mother of two sippy cup princesses. I have been trying to slowly switch them over to sippy cups since they were 6 months old. They weren't to excited about it at first but as the past three months have rolled by they have gotten better and better. They are now drinking milk from their cups about three times a day. They love it! They will also take water from the sippy as well where they barely would in their bottle. I started out using the Dr. Brown training sippy cup which worked really well. It doesn't require as much suction on their part who it is easier to do. Once they had mastered that we moved up to the 6m+ cups which they tackled with ease. They can now also drink from a 12m+ cup as well.

Then, of course, after a long day it's time for their baths. This is definitely one of their favorite things. They love the water and getting to chew on their rubber duckies. H2 is always splashing and kicking the water with her legs. I swear something she does it just to soak me! H1 is more of a tub relaxer. She just likes to sit and soak. Don't get me wrong though, there are times when she can give her sister a run for her money when it comes to making waves.

Play Date

Our play date was so much fun today. Ms. Liz and Sophia weren't able to make it so it was just us, Ms. Lauren, and Asher. We sat under a nice shade tree for a bit and let the kids crawl around and play. H1 really likes Asher, they are always paling around. H2 on the other hand is Little Miss Independent. She could care less who else is around as long as she has something to occupy her time. Asher introduced the girls to leaves and dirt. Their little finger nails are all dirty now but they loved it. As Ryan says "dirt don't hurt!"

After playing "on" the blankets for awhile we decided to walk over to where the baby swings were. The girls had never been in the swings and I was nervous to see how they'd do. I knew H2 would probably love them since she is a little daredevil but I was skeptical about how H1 would like it. I had H1 in the carrier and I put H2 into the swing and gave her a tiny swing. As first there was no reaction and then, bam, it was like a light went off inside of her. She started to smile so big and then proceeded to laugh hysterically. She loved it! I swear I'd never seen her so happy. Asher is a veteran as this swinging stuff so he was flying through the breeze in no time, all smiles! I slowed H2 down, which she was not a big fan of, and scooted her forwards to put H1 in with her. I figured that H1 would feel safer with her security blanket/sister with her. The first push went the same with H1. First, no reaction, then, a huge smile. She wasn't quite as excited about it as H2 and although she did enjoy herself she was quickly ready to get out. H2 on the other hand was a pixie hair away from having a meltdown when I went to take her out. Luckily, she chose to be happy! We are most definitely going to have to go swinging more often now.

And a special thanks to Lauren for the pictures of the girls in the swings and while they were playing on the blankets.

Splish Splash

The girls have been so tired this morning. They are nap-aholics! They woke up earlier than usual so their entire schedule is off today. Hopefully their afternoon nap will get them all refreshed so we can have a fun time at the park. We are going to meet Ms. Liz and Sophia and Ms. Lauren and Asher.
I have been waiting for two things I ordered from one of my favorite baby places One Step Ahead and they came in today. I am very excited. I got a baby gate for the living room which we were in desperate need of now that they girls are crawling all over the place and don't want to stay cooped up in their "area" anymore. I also got a little baby pool for them now that the weather is getting warmer. (See how I didn't say warm...I said warmer. In Florida it's warm on Christmas!) I absolutely love the concept and hopefully it'll work well for the girls. It is constantly hooked to the hose and the water pressure keeps the sides up. It doesn't hold much water, which is a plus, and has little squirters that they can play in. Both the girls absolutely LOVE the bath so I know this will be a huge hit. I am so excited to try it out.

The Junior Museum

Today we met with some fellow mom's in our twins club for a play date at the local "junior museum". They have a few historical exhibits and a zoo of animals native to our area. I hadn't been there since I was in elementary school and was excited to see how the girls did. We met up with four other moms and their kids. The twins were 3yr old g/g frat., 19mth old b/g frat., 3mth old b/g frat. and then there were two 9yr olds and a 5yr old. It was a nice array of ages. We all met at the first exhibit which was an old caboose used in the area.
There was also an old one room schoolhouse that was used for the local black children and a church. They girls weren't too excited about any of that. It was just another room to them. ::hehe:: There was a piano in the church which they enjoyed when the bigger kids make sounds. After those three exhibits you start out of the zoo trail. It cuts through the forest and over and around some swampland and beside a lake. It was just beautiful. One of the first animals we saw was some wild turkeys. They were making all sorts of racket *gobble gobble gobble* and H1 thought they were pretty neat. H2 could take them or leave them.

Right beside the turkey area was a lone white tail deer foraging around for some greenery. He was a little guy! H2 was definitely more interested in the deer than the turkeys. They just sat there and watched him with big wide eyes. It makes me wonder what they were thinking. Of course as soon as I pulled the camera out and snapped the picture neither one was looking directly at the deer.
There were quite a number of different animals and a lot were hard to photograph and for the girls to see. They didn't understand to look up for the eagle or owls and if an animal was smaller and wasn't moving, like the bobcat, they didn't really see it. They did however see the bear. There were two and they were huge! I always call H1 my "little bear" so it was only fitting that she be excited to see them.
Their absolute favorite animal was the wolves. I think they liked them so much because they look so similar to our German Shepard whom they are used to seeing. They were also walking around quite a big so it makes it easier for them to see.
They just loved going and I can tell it will be a place that we go quite a bit as they get older. Just as long as they don't want to stop at the alligator exhibit!
